Abu Dhabi

Welcome to Abu Dhabi!

We have all been new to Abu Dhabi at one time, many of us quite recently! We know how hard it is to leave home and family and come to a place where we don't know anyone and have to adjust to a new job, new home, new city and many times a new cultural environment. We hope that our church will become your Abu Dhabi family as you embark on this new adventure.

About the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.)

The U.A.E. is a small, oil-rich state at the southern end of the Arabian Gulf. In developing its oil wealth, the U.A.E. has imported a huge labor force from all around the world. Of the total population, 80% are comprised of expatriate workers from over 150 nations.

There are seven emirates that make up this nation: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. The city of Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It is a modern city of glass and steel, with numerous shopping malls, and a constantly expanding modern road and communications system. The climate varies from mild spring temperatures in winter (December to March) to very hot and humid in summer.

The President of the United Arab Emirates is Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

While the national language is Arabic, English is the language of commerce and one can function easily without speaking any Arabic. Signs are in Arabic and English and there are three English-language newspapers published daily, as well as English language radio stations and English TV stations available via satellite.
