The Children's Co-Op is a ministry model which requires families participating in Children's Ministry classes and programs to volunteer in the ministry.
Co-op children ministries are currently a growing trend among churches for several reasons:
- Churches realize that parents are the most influential people in their children's lives.
- Parents are called to be part of the faith-training process for their children (Proverbs 22:6, Psalm 78, Deuteronomy 6, Deuteronomy 11) so churches are taking active steps to partner with parents.
- Children's ministry teams understand that they can no longer effectively do children's ministry or provide safe staffing ratios without parent involvement and support.
While we continue to equip our ministry with volunteers who may not have children attending, our co-op policy at ECC means that if you are using this ministry and placing your kids in programs, then you must also attend training and serve in this ministry. It is a great chance for you to see our children's ministry up close and to bless others the way you have been blessed!
If you are a visiting family at ECC and have attended less than three months, Children's Ministry would like to bless you and help you adjust! After three months, when your children are involved in our programs, we look forward to partnering with you in your child's faith development.
