In Luke 2 we see the parents of the baby Jesus taking him to the temple to “present Him to the Lord” (Luke 2:22). Later, the Gospels tell us that little children were brought to Jesus for Him to touch them and bless them.

The Evangelical Community Church of Abu Dhabi encourages parents to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord. In dedicating their child, the parents acknowledge the child as a gift from God, vow before Him and the church to set a godly example for the child, and ask the congregation to prayerfully support their family.

Parents cannot decide their children’s salvation for them. Each person must make his or her own decision about a relationship with Christ. The Parent-Child Dedication service is a commitment between the parents and the church to raise the child in a godly way so that when the child is old enough, he or she will be prepared to make a decision about salvation.
