Introduction:
1. READ 1 Peter 1:13. This section begins with the word “Therefore.” Looking at the previous section (1:1–12), what is the basis for Peter’s commands in this new section?
2. READ 1 Peter 1:13–21. What is it that enables us to live holy lives?
3. APPLICATION: In what ways could you grow in preparing your mind for action, being sober-minded and setting your hope fully on the grace to be revealed in the coming of Jesus Christ?
4. APPLICATION: What were some of the futile ways of the forefathers from which you have been ransomed and saved?
5. READ 1 Peter 1:22–2:3. How do we display our purified souls and obedience to the truth?
6. APPLICATION: In what ways can you grow in showing brotherly love and affection for your fellow members at ECC? What are some ways we can spur one another on in this?
7. According to Peter, why should we love one another in this way?
8. APPLICATION: In 2:1, Peter tells us to put away malice, deceit, hypocrisy, and slander. In what ways do you struggle or fail in these areas? Are there some sins that you need to confess and work to put away?
9. APPLICATION: How are you doing in longing for the pure spiritual milk of God’s Word? What are some ways we can challenge each other to more eagerly long for God’s Word?
